Tjoapack Expands in the U.S. and Europe
New facility in Clinton, TN will feature a comprehensive GMP suite and a second oral solid dose bottle packaging line in the Netherlands to support multiple packaging formats.
Tjoapack, a global contract packaging organization, is strengthening its global footprint through significant investments in the U.S. and targeted capacity expansions in the Netherlands.
U.S. Expansion
A substantial expansion and capability upgrades at Tjoapack’s U.S. facility in Clinton, TN includes developing a new 170,000-sq.-ft. facility adjacent to its existing site, scheduled for completion in early 2027. The new building will feature a comprehensive GMP suite with advanced packaging, labeling, serialization, and expanded cold chain and ambient storage capabilities, supporting a broad range of dosage forms including oral solid dose products (bottles and blisters) and injectable products (vials and auto-injectors), as well as various secondary packaging configurations.
Tjoapack has also commissioned and validated two advanced injectables packaging lines at the Clinton site: a fully automated high-speed vial packaging line with integrated labeling, cartoning, and serialization, capable of producing 15–20 million vials annually, and a semi-automated auto-injector packaging line offering advanced labeling, cartoning, serialization, and end-to-end traceability.
To support the growing demand for temperature-sensitive biologics and specialty therapies, the facility’s GMP-compliant cold storage capacity has also been expanded by 2.5x, adding 160 pallet spaces under controlled 2–8°C conditions. The expanded cold chain area is fully validated and operational.
Together, these investments significantly enhance Tjoapack’s U.S. packaging throughput, injectables packaging capabilities, and cold chain infrastructure, strengthening its ability to support complex, regulated pharmaceutical supply chains and meet increasing market demand.
Investments in Europe
Tjoapack’s Etten-Leur facility in the Netherlands recently introduced a second oral solid dose bottle packaging line — a state-of-the-art Cremer Uhlmann IBC 50 — capable of packaging up to 50 bottles per minute and accommodating a wide range of bottle shapes and configurations. The fully GMP-compliant line supports multiple packaging formats, including cartoning with leaflets, booklet insertion (topserter), and shrink wrapping, increasing flexibility and efficiency for customers.
Furthermore, the Netherlands facility expanded its GMP-compliant cold storage capacity with an additional 84 pallet spaces, bringing total 2–8°C storage capacity to 120 pallet positions.
